Welcome

MOWATT SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY was established in January 2007 at 'Topnotch Health Club' Leafy lane, Maidstone, Kent ME16 0DT

The location offers a relaxed informal atmosphere to receive massage therapy for various conditions:-

Are you suffering back pain, muscle injury or stress?

Sports massage therapy is not confined to the treatment of sports injuries but can provide a valuable addition to the training and preparation for future events, ensuring that muscles are in peak condition, aiding recovery and enhancing performance.

Sports massage differs from therapeutic massage in that it is a deeper form of soft tissue massage using specific techniques to treat physically active individuals, who may be more venerable to injury because of the stress placed on the body by their sports.

Sports and remedial massage therapy is not just for sports people. It helps many people who’ve never played sports!

It is also for those suffering muscle aches from inactivity, such as long distance driving and sitting at a computer all day.

Sore muscles

Sports and deep tissue massage can be used for different people from gym and studio uses who have over worked muscles, people sitting in the same   position everyday at their desks, carrying heavy shopping bags and even heavy rucksack over the same suffering shoulder to and from work. It all creates a sore body that needs attention.

Stressed muscles

Different worries come and go but the tension remains. Stress is widely reported to cause at least 75% or more of diseases, some terminal. Surely we should consider treatment of stress before it builds up and up.

All the above can be treated through massage.

Deep tissue Massage can help with:-

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Runner’s knee

  • Back/Neck pain

  • Repetitive strain injuries

  • Sprains Shin splints

  • Tennis elbow/Golfers elbow

  • Calf/Ankle/Knee injuries

  • General Muscle discomfort

  • Stress

Benefits

Massage is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Regular massage may help prevent injuries and aid recovery of discomfort caused by overuse. Aches and pains are eased your body is left feeling calm, relaxed and at peace.

Treatment

When you attend your first treatment there will be a consultation and then massage. During the consultation you will be asked your current and relevant medical history. Your muscle and body alignment is checked for muscle imbalances and postural problems through special tests.

The sports massage treatment may involve a firmer pressure massage compared to aromatherapy massage depending on the problem, with often other techniques in addition to massage such as PNF stretches and resisted movements.  This will help promote flexibility and a greater range of movement for the muscles. Deep static pressure may be used to target localised tension.
